How to Craft Obsidiron Chest in (Meteor Update) - 99 Nights in the Forest

The Meteor Update for 99 Nights in the Forest brought the wild Meteor Shower event, added new resources and craftables. Among the most significant new additions is the Obsidiron Chest (also referred to as the Obsidian Chest), which is achievement-driven and needed for the higher-level gear.

Building it isn’t as easy as putting a few things together — you’ll first have to unlock the Meteor Anvil, search for rare materials, and process materials in a special way. Here’s the complete guide to help you build your initial Obsidiron Chest.

Unlocking the Meteor Anvil

You can only craft the Obsidiron Chest at the Meteor Anvil, found inside the anvil building. This location doesn’t exist until after a Meteor Shower event, which can trigger any time after Day 5. When the event begins, you’ll see the text: “The sky is on fire.”

  • Find the Anvil Building: After the shower, look for a red anvil icon on your map.
  • Clear the Enemies: The entrance is patrolled by Meteor Crabs. Kill them first before heading inside.
  • Assemble the Anvil: Inside, pick up the scattered anvil parts and put them onto the blueprint to reassemble the Meteor Anvil.
  • Assembled, the Meteor Anvil is usable to gain access to new recipes, such as the Obsidiron Chest blueprint.

Materials Needed

Meteor Shards (10)

Red crystals obtained by mining meteors in the craters during a shower. Common drop, so you’ll usually have plenty.

Gold Shards (5)

Same source as Meteor Shards, but much rarer. Keep mining meteor fragments frequently to stock up.

Obsidiron Ingots (3)

This is the trickiest part and requires a multi-step process:

  • Mine Raw Obsidiron Ore from meteor craters.
  • Break the Ore by throwing it from a height until it cracks.
  • Toss the broken Ore into lava inside the crater — it transforms into a Scalding Obsidiron Ingot.
  • Heat it in a furnace to purify it into an Obsidiron Ingot.
  • Repeat until you have a minimum of three.

Crafting the Obsidiron Chest

Having all materials in hand:

  • Go back to the Meteor Anvil.
  • Choose the Obsidiron Chest blueprint recipe.
  • Put the needed items on the anvil.
  • The blueprint will show — put it on the ground to bring your chest.

Unlocking your first Obsidiron Chest also unlocks a unique achievement, so it’s definitely worth the effort.
