The Meteor Update to 99 Nights in the Forest did more than send sparkling meteors streaking through the heavens. With new craftables, new enemies, and resources came four event badges that you can earn as you complete some objectives. These badges aren’t particularly hard to reach, but they do encourage you to explore the new meteor material and experiment with the new mechanics.
This guide walks you through all four badges, what you need to do in order to unlock them, and what you’ll be rewarded with in the process.
Unlocking All Event Badges

The event centres around the meteor crash sites, Meteor Crabs, and Meteor Anvil. By engaging in activities with these mechanics, you will naturally contribute to the unlocking of all four badges.
The following is a rundown of each of them:
1. Open an Obsidiron Chest
The first badge is tied to the brand-new Obsidiron Chest, a powerful item that can only be obtained through crafting. To unlock it, you’ll need to gather materials such as Meteor Shards, Gold Shards, and Obsidiron Ingots, then use them at the Meteor Anvil.
- The Meteor Anvil becomes available after the Meteor Shower event occurs (day 5+).
- Assemble the anvil by placing its scattered pieces into the highlighted frame.
- After activating, select the Obsidiron Chest recipe and enter the resources required.
- When you open the chest, you’ll have access to the badge.
Reward: 3x Blue Flame, +5 Diamonds.
2. Kill 20 Meteor Crabs

The Meteor Shower didn’t bring only new resources — it also spawned a new enemy type: Meteor Crabs. These creatures spawn at crash sites or near the Meteor Anvil.
Killing them is a badge contribution. If you’ve already constructed the Obsidiron Hammer with the Obsidiron Chest, killing them only takes three hits. Any weapon will work; it’s just slower. Once you’ve slain 20 Meteor Crabs, the badge will be available.
Reward: Meteor Lamp Furniture, +5 Diamonds.
3. Mine 25 Meteors

Crash points not only spawn enemies — they also drop glowing red crystals to the ground. These are meteors that you can harvest for resources.
Use any melee weapon (your axe is fine) and bash the crystals to collect Meteor Shards. Not only do these shards make wonderful crafting materials, but collecting 25 of them also completes this badge requirement.
Reward: 3x Blue Flame, +5 Diamonds.
4. Craft 5 Items at the Meteor Anvil

The final badge is about the Meteor Anvil, the update’s crown jewel. When constructed, the anvil unlocks a special crafting menu with eight unique recipes, one of which is the Obsidiron Chest.
To complete the badge:
- Enter the anvil build (marked by the red anvil icon on your map).
- Slay the Meteor Crabs inside.
- Construct the anvil, and then click on it.
- Construct any five of the items from the list.
- You don’t have to make five separate things — repeating recipes works, too.
Reward: Crater Rug Furniture, +5 Diamonds.
